It was kind of what I expected, 3 or 4 guys for every girl. Not very romantic and a bit awkward. Funny story, I actually met someone about an hour before one of these speed dating panels, and we decided to go with a plan. Once we got a chance to sit with each other, we would gaze into each other's eyes, hug, say something "I finally found you! It actually worked, and we hung out for the rest of the weekend.

Needless to say, the rest of the guys in that room were freaking out. She is still a good friend of mine, btw. Here is my stance on this: Not saying these people are bad, but it's different than meeting someone by chance and having a REAL conversation. If you can handle that, then you can meet some really interesting characters. Don't wait for a lady to come to you on the sidelines. Romantic anime encounters rarely happen in real life, so when in doubt, talk to that person.
Say hello, be yourself, don't overdo anything that just yells "I'm unique! Drop those fears and just do it. At the very least, a nice compliment can go a long way to brighten someone's day.
If a girl comes up to you, don't go all 'derpy'. Some of what I mentioned above applies. Confidence, and be yourself.

Don't be afraid to talk to a guy, it helps breaks the ice like you wouldn't believe. Instead of offering tickets, Otakon sells memberships at different levels for entry to the three-day spectacle.
Memberships help fund Otakorp, the non-profit that operates Otakon and is completely volunteer-run. Children 8 and under can enter free with a registered adult while children 12 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

Are you ready to go all out in the name of anime? The best part of Otakon is the cosplay.
