But as I said earlier it is pretty unlikely that you would have ovulated 3 weeks late without noticing as that is a week after your AF should have shown up. Two bouncy boys New Zealand Total posts: No as acurate but neither is going off the date of your LMP With it so far out they will probably go off the new date.

12 WEEKS PREGNANT - DATING SCAN & SCREENING

I know the exact date of my last LMP but I know I wasnt preg just opver 2 weeks ago but if im preg now im on day 68 of my cycle witch would make me like 8 - 10 weeks pregnant when I would really be no more then 5 weeks. With my last pregnancy I knew the dates of my LMP and went for a dating scan which showed a 4 week difference in dates. It turned out that AF had just not arrived the previous month so my LMP was actually 6 weeks prior to her being conceived making a 4 week variance if that makes sense?

I have been told typically scans can be up to 10 days out either way especially later in pregnancy so i'd so maybe you are due somewhere in the middle? Maybe around the 18 week mark? Also did it show on your 12 week scan? Posted Sunday 06 March I did not have a 12 week scan This is my first scan.

The sonographer actually said that my GP was naughty, and that everyone should have a dating scan regardless of knowing their lmp dates etc.

As for my previous babies, they were both small at 7lb8 and 7lb5, so I'm not expecting anything huge anyway. Im just wondering if anyone knows if the scans actually take into account the 2 weeks PRIOR to conception included in the 40 weeks duration They do factor in the 2 weeks. In NZ it is quite unusual to have a dating scan, while in OZ it seems to be the norm. I wonder why it is so different!?! I live in NZ and had a dating scan and most people I know have them now all you have to do is ask for one. For example, I remember driving from Brisbane to gold coast and back within an hour and got back home and slept straight for the rest of the day this was before I found out I was pregnant and I usually cannot sleep during the day and feeling constantly tired and EXTREMELY dizzy and this would have been when I was approximately 3 weeks pregnant 1 week gestational???

Not usually noticeable at 3 weeks I don't think. Also, I had recorded quite strong movements at approx 14 weeks I have had two previous pregnancies , but going by these new dates, i would have been 11 weeks??? I doubt it, and cause I know what movements to look out for, I know it was not gas etc. All I can do is let it go and wait I suppose. The healthcare professionals will stick to this date as far as possible because it is then used as the baseline for growth throughout pregnancy. Your baby's growth can slow down and then have spurts. I've not even had my 20 week scan yet. I have scans every few weeks so it will probably keep on changing.

My baby will come when it's ready anyway, maybe weeks before or maybe weeks after my due date. These can be carried out from week 5 or 6 of pregnancy, which is a notoriously tricky time to be accurate on dates. Measurements at such an early stage aren't accurate which is why they wait for 12 weeks to date you. Expert Jan Steward, who is director of Ultrasound Direct and Babybond, agrees that early scans carry a much greater risk of inaccuracy. We always recommend mums get a definitive dating scan closer to 12 weeks as this will be much more accurate.

Just half a millimetre at such an early stage can change your date by a week. Your week scan will be far more accurate. The sonographer then said that I was only about 4.

Then at the week scan I got an EDD of 15 march, so that early scan was completely out. Well, you'd think so, wouldn't you. At around 12 weeks you can get more accurate measurements. By talking to the health care professionals you should get a clearer picture as to what is happening.

Can your pregnancy scan give the wrong due date?

It's interesting that you say that ultrasounds between 8 and 10 weeks are the most accurate. In the UK, most pregnant women don't have an ultrasound until they are at least 12 weeks pregnant. Perhaps you are based in the US, or another country, where ultrasound practice is a bit different?
