Just because of that and all the extra bits is worth it all the way: I am a sucker for a good RomCom. This pretty much hits that spot in a very nonfiction way. As a story, it has all the moments one wants: I found myself reflecting on my own relationships and how I've occupied the spaces of boyfriend and lover, as well as friend.
The design work is pretty phenomenal, which, unfortunately, is where this book falls short. It cuts into a lot of the deign work when turning to the next page, which is frustrating when I am a sucker for a good RomCom. This book feels much like a supplement to the website.
The Website shows more graphic works and motion graphics that aren't shown or can't be shown in the book. I found myself reading from the book while being on the website to experience the full impact of the art work. All in all, it's a great book to read and find more insight to the before and after of the project.

Unfortunately, the design and structure of the book layout was not up to par, requiring several page flips back and forth to get the chronology right. Definitely the design is the best part of it. Although I kind of suffer while reading each day's challenge and emotions it was the perfect book to read and question my love patterns, surely everyone's got one.

After a few weeks of exploring options to purchase it, I finally bought one copy from Amazon. It took me a few weeks after getting the book to read it. Once I started reading, I couldn't stop.

I also had a hard time resisting flipping to the back because I was so curious about the ending! In the end I just had to know the ending before going through all 40 days worth of journal entries. That sort of affected the way I read the second half of the journal entries, so for those of you who haven't read the book, please try to resist the temptation to flip to the back!
The ending was a bit unexpected and I wish Jessica shared more about her experience with Zak, like how exactly they met, the dates they had, and how she was feeling considering that she met Zak within a very short time from the end of the experiment Book 2 perhaps??? The illustrations in the book are great and make the book even more entertaining and colourful. Unfortunately some of the illustrations got cut off because of the formatting of the book. While the day journal entries benefit from being put side by side, the post-experiment entries were a bit hard to read because Jessica and Tim's entries ended on different pages and the dates were not synchronised.
For the most part of the day journal entries, I read from the left to the right Jessica's entry, then Tim's entry , and only towards the end did I realise that it was more interesting to mix the order up once in a while so Tim's entry first, then Jessica's. Funny how Tim and Jessica could perceive a date or event differently. I really enjoyed reading the book and could see myself flipping through it again in future. We finally found out how their weekend away a trip to Disneyland went down, and more importantly, if they stayed together after the experiment. More on that in a moment. So, did the pair stay together? That said, the ending is so well timed and poetic — they part ways at But, does it actually tell us anything about relationships?
